The kittie blocks and the red/yellow triangle strips at the top and bottom were left over from previous projects. Then last year I went to the North Carolina Quilt Symposium and took a class with Judi Gunter called "circle gets the square". These squares are not from that class since I didn't like the ones I made in class and gave them to Judi to show her future students what NOT to do  So I made new ones at home but only from my stash. The multi-color stripe has been in my stash for years and I finally used the last of it. I still have enough of the fabric that I used on the balls to piece a backing for this. And I'm determined to find something in my stash that I can use for the binding. I think I can even find a piece of leftover batting big enough to use with this. So this will be the first time in my 20 years of quilting that I will have made a quilt from start to finish without buying anything new. :P :P I call it "Time-Out Kitties" because when I showed this on another forum, one of the ladies said the kitties wanted to get out of their cages and play with the balls.

Thanks mpspeedy, pal, and Chele. I'm rather pleased with the quilt...but not the name. Kids don't like getting a time-out so I'm very open to suggestions for something more positive.

When I think about how much it costs to make a quilt, this one really is a freebie. I'm going to have to start shopping from my stash more often

Great job! I shop from my stash all the time, but then again I am always buying fabrics to add to my stash.......Though I do love to pull out a pattern, then pull all fabs from my stash and just whip it up. I have a fairly substancial stash.

Pretty stash quilt! It reminds me of a Circus Bigtop. The balls remind me of the ones the seals use in their act!

Kathy-that is a really cute stash quilt! I do not think your kitties look like they are in cages, I think they look like they are looking out a window---maybe they are wishing they could be outside playing. Kitty Dreams.....

Very adorable quilt. You mean, that's all the stash you had left after 20 years??? JUST KIDDING! Very nice job and pretty clever in MHO.

Just love the quilt - I had some of that kitty fabric - I made some totes with it for a Fair - and they went quickly.

Great quilt..did you come up with that design? It is really cute and I like those balls...I'm going to have to look at her website and try to figure out that technique.
