    Do these open like a book so you have 4 different looks on each one?

    That's pretty much it. You just open to whichever look you want for the day. I made some for my DGS with childrens fabrics. It is a large oval template. You cut 4, then sew 2 of them right sides together, from the center around to the other side. Put another on 1 side (right sides together) and sew the remaining half of 1 and the first half of the other. Do this until you have all 4 sewn together, leaving a turning spot open. Turn right side out and press. I topstitched mine so they will lay flat easier after washing. I put interfacing behind 2 to add stability. Hope this didn't cloud the issue more.

    What a Great pattern!! :thumbup: I just love your placemat's, they are so cute. I have printed the pattern & think I will give it a try. I think my grand chidren would like them a lot!!
