This is a non-answer answer. I like it both ways but I like it better without the second "window". If you go with the smaller, second window in cream, I would suggest not using cream in the bigger windows. Clear as mud? Sometimes the second window works and sometimes it doesn't. It's a fun quilt to do.

I just bought the 10 Minute Block book and there are many variations of it. I know there is a 10 Minute Block 2 book out too. Thing is - they don't look like the same block.

I like it better with the extra window. I think it looks more quilty that way. I would put it away for a few days, take it out and look at it again. You might be able to decide for yourself by doing this. I like the "10 minute" block. Will do something with it soon. I bought the book and looked at videos. Good luck.

Is this a 10-minute block or a cathedral window? From my understanding, they are totally different blocks, but I am fairly new to quilting. Just want to be sure I understand which is which.

BTW, I actually like the extra one.

I prefer it without the extra windows. Pretty colors.

This is called a 10 minute block but the woman who developed the technique says "you can roll the edges like a cathedral window which is my choice".
I think the block looks great either way, love your fabric colors.

I love it with the extra. But that's a lot of extra work. What if you just X'd or diamond'd them accross the quilt? One big X or diamond pattern of extras.

So your 10 min was 4 purples & a cream. Then you cathedral'd the cream, inserting a contrast square when you stitched it. Then the cream "sashed" the contrast block.

Wow! I love your take on the block!!!

Yes, there are several variations in the 10-Minute Block book.

I like this one better without the extra window.
