I love it! Definitely use some type of ocean wave design.

I would leave the sails without quilting to make them "full of air"

I agree with the wave designs others have posted. Definitely I would outline quilt around the beautiful sailboat. and maybe break up the wave quilting with a quilted fish or two jumping out of the water? awesome quilt! excited to see what you decide on...post pics when it's finished!!

When I am thread painting, I change the color of thread, but for regular quilting, I like a neutral: gray, beige, black, white and of course shades of those like a smokey gray or cream. For this I go with a gray, too. Deep grays just seem to work best on bright colors. I really like the quilt, perfect for summer!

Wow, sorry I completely spaced this off! lol Must have been having too much holiday fun! =)

I ended up doing a sort of wavy stipple, working from the center downward, then as I worked my way toward the top I changed the stipple over to a cloud design and even threw in a few seagulls. I'm sorry to say I didn't get a final close up of the quilting. =(

This is a photo of my DGS upon opening his gift. He LOVES it and said he doesn't want to USE it for fear of messing it up. LOL! I had to explain that it was meant to be used and that he could put it into the washer and dryer. He said in that case he'll use it, but not a lot! LOL! Guys can be funny.
