Luv it! And you did a great job of matching the middle! I thought it was one piece.

I think the biggest challenge was the middle portion. I had to take a big triangle of the red print and one of the white print and piece them together so the images matched. It didn't come out perfectly, but I think it looks nice
.

Are you kidding? You did a great job. I would never have known you pieced it. It thought it was just a square panel that had been printed that way. Your hubby is going to love this. Does he know about it or is a surprise? You'll have to let us know his reaction.

Hopefully I can totally keep it a surprise. With the youngest DD and her DH in New Zealand, this will be our first Christmas morning when there are no kids to drag dad out of bed to open presents. (Even after she got married, our youngest and her hubby would spend Christmas eve with us and stay over. My son in law joined right with our daughter in the traditional, "Pull dad out of bed by his big toe." game on Christmas morning, that started years ago.) Our oldest will come up later, but for me, the anticipation of seeing his face when he opens his quilt will help the transition.

I think it's really beautiful....very clever. Can't wait to see the finished product. I am sure it will give him hours of comfortable movie watching.

I made the same quilt for my son, who is a sound engineer in LA. He has a "theater" room decorated with the posters of all the films and TV shows he has mixed. I hope to have it quilted for Xmas. I have no idea how to quilt the middle panel (which I made all white). I have a Bernina with a stitch regulater and am thinking of outlining some of the figures in the panel. What do you think? I'm really intimidated about starting to quilt. I will post pictures when I'm done.

How are you going to quilt the center panel? I made the same quilt for my son for Xmas and still have to quilt it. He is a sound engineer and I made it for his "theater" room. You did a great job on the center panel. I chickened out and made it just the white panel.

Oh fish! I am so glad to hear you say that! Me too!!!!!!!!!! I am going to add another border, black about 4 inches and maybe applique some stars on it 'cause my hubby is tall. I too have a Bernina with a stitch regulator and have been contemplating doing that same as you, outlining some of the more prominent figures. but I haven't really done much with it but they say you can get the hang of it in about 2 hours. I definitely plan on this for a Christmas present, but have also been very intimidated about the quilting part. I guess done is better than perfect, so when I get back from New Zealand, it will be my top priority....gonna get it done one way or the other!

We will have to swap experience and tips and encourage each other.

You son's room sounds really cool! I bet he'll flip over his quilt!
