after years of quilting and loving my own work, i hate this one. i do fine with other kinds of quilting designs, points, etc. but of course i chose my own colors. she likes dull colors, soooo.!

so here it is. have pity and don't be too harsh. i shouldn't have tried so many 'news' on the same project. live and sometimes learn.
OK, Butterflywing. YOU'RE being too hard on yourself. I'd love to have this quilt that you hate that is A LISTS OF FIRSTS. I could be wrapped up in it this minute as the rain comes down in buckets and we hear that there has been heavy wind damage in a nearby town. So what if your points are not perfect. Just think of all the experience you've gained as you worked on these stars. I'd bet you've learned tons of things to avoid the next time you make one of these. And your quilting is just great. The colors are different but just put a smile on my face. I wish that I were brave enough to make a quilt with these nice colors.

One of my great loves is butterflies. Now I can say that I love Butterflywing's great quilt. Be nice to yourself, relax, and make another quilt.

the colors are not true in any of the pics. if you find the darkest, dreariest of the colors, and think way, way darker, MUDDIER, then you will come closer.
it was really as though a child dragged it through the muddy yard.
it was unpleasant to work on and i'm glad it's not mine, although i would not have chosen those colors to begin with.

it is what it is. i' ll see her soon and say goodbye to it.

but i love all the pats on my back. thank you all.

Welcome to the "I'm my own worst enemey club." It's pretty. Your quilting is beautiful & she'll love it because her sister made it for her. Now hush up and enjoy the" atta boys " your getting 'cause you did a beautiful job. Oh by the way I'm president of the club so you can be vice president.

Butterflywing you had me rofl when I read your description of this quilt. I think it is just fine! If those are the colors your sister likes she will love it and more so because you took the time to make it for her :)

My sister loves brights...ugh...not quite my thing (although I guess looking at the fabrics I picked for my chicken blocks you wouldn't have guessed). Everytime I go to make her something and I walk thru all the electric blue, lime green, hot pink, whatever that orange and yellow that blinds you is called I just cringe and moan inwardly. I just put on my sunglasses and sew.

My friends seem to like the subdued colors and high contrast. That is hard for me. While you put on sunglasses, I have to brighten the lights. lol
