Put some hair on them and maybe use some metallic thread to do the halos. I really like the way it looks you just need to do something to make the angels stand out more. :)

I think they look sweet! Maybe try sticking one of your table centre pieces in the middle of it to give you an idea of how it will look.

But if you really hate it (which I DON'T!!) you could fussy cut the angels to make squares out of them and use some other coloured fabrics to put it all together and give the angels some pop!

I love it and i think if you just do cross hatching for the quilting it will pop. my idea would be to leave the corners as large squares just to fit the angels and then use 1 or 1 1/2 inch cross hatching thruout

Maybe outline the angels with a lighter shade of their main color? I take the fused scraps, iron some together and then blanket stitch different colored threads on them, it is an easy way to audition thread colors :D:D:D

Another thought is to place some kind of vine curving (maybe with holly leaves) inbetween the angels to help tie them together.

Or maybe add two smaller angels inbetween the two on the longer sides?

You could also use a pigma pen to add dots for eyes and a line for a mouth, that would make the faces stand out a bit more too.

it is so cute...so don't quit on it, just keep going; once your angels are stitched down they will come to life, and it is really cute...sometimes things don't look quite right to us until they are finished, don't be harsh on yourself before it even has a chance to "become".

As someone else mentioned, applique around the angels with a dark thread. I think you will like it better then.

If you have more of the head material, fuse another layer over the one you have. It will keep the underneath fabrics from showin through.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions. I did like Barbm said and outlined one of the angels. I like it much better this way. Mind you, I have never used this stitch and it needs some work but this is for me and I am learning all the time. I think I will add a dresden in the middle and see how it looks. Again, thank you everyone. I also would add a halo if I knew how.
