I was thinking the EXACT same thing! A dresden plate done in the colors of the angels in the middle would be PERFECT! Plus, if you don't like it after that, don't send it to Barb, send it to me!
I love you guys!!! Thank you

The angels are really cute. I think it will turn out nice. I don't see anything wrong with the background fabric. Nice work so far!

I love it ... that is awesome work ... keep going with it ... it needs something in the middle to balance it, and maybe some hair on the angels along with halos ... :D

If you don't want it ... I'm MORE than willing to take it off your hands ;)

The only problem I see is that background fabric show thru heads/faces. You could put another on top and that will make a double thickness. I think it is very cute and with a little embellishment will be great. The grid quilting was good idea, too.

or put some french knots for hair!
you could add some strips of fabric, at least one, across the center one way that go with the angels.

French knots would be really cute and easy to do. It would work for the angels I'm making- thanks for the idea!

This is where my thoughts were headed also. Or bind the edges in the fabrics of each of the angels' robes. Need some more color for contrast. Don't give up!!

Mind you, I have never used this stitch and it needs some work but this is for me and I am learning all the time. I think I will add a dresden in the middle and see how it looks. Again, thank you everyone. I also would add a halo if I knew how.
Do a simple hand embroidered halo, maybe with a sparkly thread. Lightly sketch the outline and embroider over the line. Should be an oval shape, rather than round IMHO. Let us see the finished product please!

Makes sense to me.
OK, but a really large dresden in the middle would be perfect...the arrangement would sit in the middle, and the outside edges of the dresden would look like petals around the vase/basket.
