No, Esq, this one is Melanie's that just came to me from JoeAnn. HER center is on it's way to you. It's the bird of paradise applique one.
JoeAnn can't post photos, so I promised I would post her border as soon as I got the quilt. Now it's my turn to come up with something. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........(scratching my head)

My first idea was to have the same border that I have here, except with little squares on point running through the center beige strip, but that ended up looking too busy, the focus should be more on the center. Plus I had this really awesome brown leaf print fabric with bits of beige and the colours worked great with the safari print in the center, but looking at it after, the leaf print looked out of place.
Second try, plain borders, but with a 9 patch corner stone, but that looked funny too because the rest of the squares in the center are all on point...
*sigh* Now, my latest attempt is this one here. I wanted to go and get that orange from the center and bring it out in the border, ( I love orange!) but I think it would look better in a larger border, farther from the center. SOOOOOO...
Here goes nothing, tell me HONESTLY what you think. I still have the rest of the day and tomorrow morning until 3 to change anything you don't like about this.
I also felt the need to show you all the painting that's on my living room wall, so you can see how well this quilt would go in my living room... *hint, hint* Ok, I'm just kidding about that, but so far the colours really do look great with my living room, lol!

Well, since she used the fabric that I used in Grandpa's quilt, at least I know I can match part of it from my stash. I don't have a lot, but I'm pretty sure I have a bunch of small pieces. Hmmmmmmmm.......

Wow - Mel's centre looks fantastic! Tell JoAnn she did a great job! :-D
Esq, Gai's centre arrived this morning. Patti, let me know that you saw this OK? If you don't I'll PM AND email you to be sure!
Esq's border looks fantastic in person, as does the centre itself - the basket handle is plaited so 3D - brilliant! Now, what to do, what to do? I'm thinking I'll go darkish to frame it, and I'm torn between fairly simple OR a trailing vine with leaves - needleturn, I know how much Gai loves that. But I want to be sure that's what the centre wants and needs NOT just what I want to do! What do you think, Gai and girls? Maybe 1/2" brown or dark green either side of a 4" appliquéd border with the said leaves in shades of green to pick up the greens in the basket? Or would that be too much?

Yes, I saw it Kathyrn and then I went back to look at that beauty again after your post (its on page 8 BTW). I love your vine idea..I wonder though if you really need to add the dark brown or green strip or if you can just do the entire border in the applique. Rachael's addition is really well balanced...you can tell better in person than I can from the pic here...but I love the vine idea...but then you knew I would..its Gai we have to wonder about..
