Very pretty...love the colors and kudos for taking on such a challenging pattern. Well done! What's your plan for the quilting?

Therein lies the dilemma. My quilting skills are still very pantograph and I would never do that to this beautiful quilt. I have a couple of queries out there to some great longarmers to find out what they would charge. I probably don't want to know. haha

I am not a feather gal, more of a swirly and pebbly. Recommendations & ideas from these very talented quilters on this board will be appreciated. If all else fails, I will buy the pattern from Judy Niemeyer's website and have a friend do it on her Gammil with the Statler Stitcher. She will be starting her BWS soon and I am hoping she will let me put in some work time with her instead of a massive quilting fee.

I just clicked on your website. Maybe I should ask you for a quote and/or suggestions. If I end up doing it, it will be a while, if ever, before my skills will be anything near the level this quilt demands to enhance it's beauty. I don't see a BWS in your gallery. Sure wish you had one posted. I would love to see one.

Your color combinations are nothing short of perfect. The whole quilt just glows.

I thought that to, about it being beyond me. I was wrong, but I had sewed clothing off and on for many years. I was familiar with how to do curves. The key is getting someone to help you understand what her pattern wants you to do. She has so much detail in them that they become overwhelming, but all the detail is very necessary. She is teaching you how to paper piece with every pattern and stitch.

I was lucky that a friend helped me when I was starting the quilt. With the starts and stops I have done with this, I have to get the pattern out and re-read sections and re-learn parts that I am working on every time.

If you ever get a chance to take a class with Judy Niemeyer, or one of her Certified instructors, do it. The techniques are explained in detail. I started Desert Sky after I had the BWS about half done. Desert Sky is a much simpler pattern and does include curves. I believe almost any skill level could do it.

Garden Wall is one of JN's patterns that have no curved pieces and would be a simpler place to start. It does include applique that you can do if you want to. If you ever try one of these and understand how to do it, you will be hooked. The results can be very beautiful.
