This block is so fun to do. I took a bunch of 10" sqaures I had left from making another quilt, and I cut them into 5" suqares and then put an alternating color with them. I used fabrics in greens, blues, red an yellows. I made a quilt for my neice for Christmas and she absolutely loved it. I loved it to, and want to make another one soon, but maybe in a different color palette this time. It is a quilt that is so simple--yet looks like it was complicated to make. (No one needs to know that is really was simple!!!)

She used 8 inch blocks - I like it better then my 6 1/2 inch block.

I finally uploaded pix of the 10 minute hotmats that the gals at work got from me this C'mas. They really were quick and fun to make.

Is there any general rule of thumb with these blocks as to what size squares you use and then what size the final block is? I understand 10" squares make an 18" block, is that correct? What do the 6.5" squares make?

Also, if you want a four patch effect, how do you go about sewing the squares together? Thanks!
