I ALWAYS use a Dye Catcher sheet (looks like a dryer sheet) when I wash a completed quilt. (I also use them when I wash new clothes) JUST A WORD OF CAUTION: remove from wash as soon as the cycle is complete. I left a load washing once and went shopping, several hours later when I removed my brand new capri pants the DYE Catcher sheet had actually sucked tooo much dye from the pants where it was touching it and sat for hours.Won't do that again....remove immediately.

It looks amazing either way. I hope you can get it out so you feel better, but I promise you that they will love it either way. With all your wonderfully amazing work and the effort that you put into it who could not love it!?? I would not even have noticed even in the close up. I had to actually look for it after I read it. Keep us updated and again very wonderful job.

Absolutely beautiful! So sorry that bleeding happened, but I bet you notice it more than they ever would. With all the skill and love that went into it, I don't see how they couldn't treasure it.

I would through a dye grabber sheet right in along with the syntrapol wash. Got mine at Joanns and looks like a white terry cloth washcloth. But you wouldn't believe how it changed color after being in the wash even with the Synthrapol.

Good luck...beautiful quilt!

I've used my grabber several times and it still works, despite looking almost black, at this point, after so many uses. I belive the package says it can be used up to 20-25 times?? Don't know if I'd trust it that many times. I make a mark on its box everytime I use it.

I agree. The instructions with mine says it can be used 30 times.

I hope the bleed will come out for you. That is a stunning quilt. I've wanted to make one for about 15 yrs. but I'm kinda chicken. Yours is just beautiful.

I wash very dark colors in warm water and more detergent, just to be sure I get all the extra dye out. Sometimes there is so much dye in it you can feel it...stiff & waxy feeling.
