When I made this I wasn't real sure that I wanted to be a quilter. Would I like working with fabrics? Would I be able to understand a pattern? Could I match up seams well enough? I went to WalMart and found the fabrics and ended up with this. Sure didn't know anything about sandwiching and getting the puckers out, but was happy enough with it that I went on and on and on...

This is my first quilt. A couple of years ago my friend bought a Viking Embroidery machine and asked me to make a quilt then teach her how to do it. She's made tons of projects since then. I bought my own simple sewing machine last fall and am on my third quilt now.

Love the quilts in this thread! Thanks for asking!!!

The actual blues look better than in this pic.

This is the simple quilt I made for my first one about 5 or 6 years ago. I bought a book for learning to quilt, jumped in and have been quilting ever since. I still refer to this book once in a while.

    Thanks everyone!
    Holy Moly!
    That's your first quilt?!?!?!
    Hand- or machine- pieced?
It's really beautiful. Perfect points. The colors, the setting, the cornerstones.

    Fabulous!

My profile pic (New York Beauty/Karen Stone) was my first quilt. It got me through falling apart over a lung cancer diagnosis/surgery. I was afraid I wasn't going to live long enough to make it and..................... seven quilts later!!!!!

I've posted 'Miss Ugly' before but here she is. This is a UFO but is my first attempt at piecing.

hi BeckyL----They are great. I can't understand you being embarrassed about these lovely quilts! Nothing wrong with log cabins, and your colors blend and contrast nicely.

Congrats, Sheree... on your recovery and that *AMAZING* quilt! Surely you'd done some sewing prior? Please? :?

Here are my first quilts. I worked on them at the same time. The Christmas quilt I made for my BF, the other one I use on my bed in winter. Both are made last year.
