This one has been around for about 18 months and I kept leaving it to start something else - but it's now finished - just as the lilacs are coming into flower in the garden!
It's the biggest I've quilted so far. I made a couple of cushions to match.

That is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful fabric and beautiful work. I especially appreciate the cushions - by the time I get to the end of a big project, I can never talk myself into making any accessories.

    Katrine,
That is such a beauty!! It reminds me of some of the embroidered quilts I've seen!! I miss lilacs as they don't grow in Florida.

Thanks everyone - lilacs are definitely a favourite of most people. I adore the perfume of the flowers. Lilacs are in everyone's gardens around here and there are whites, pinky lavender, mauve and deep purple, some of them with double petals.
When I saw this range of fabrics, I had to buy some! And I had it a long time before I cut into it.

I didnt use a pattern. I bought fabrics without a pattern in mind and by the time I went to cut it 2 years later, I had to figure out how best to use the fabrics I had, because I couldn't buy/find extra.
The blocks are 10" finished. The large lilac flower block has a 1" border of the pale green dots. The other block I got from "Around the Block", Judy Hopkins, and in the book the name is "Union", but I noticed that on Quilters Cache, Union block there is different.
I would have liked to have done the binding with the lilac dots (as 1st border), but didnt have enough.
I stitched in the ditch around the blocks before doing the fmq.

This is really beautiful, Katerine! I really love how you have used the flowered fabric in the plain blocks between the patchwork areas.
    It looks romantic...

Andrea and Red Garnet - I like the romantic idea - maybe I should rename it "Lilac Romance"?
