    Little Prairie Star with FPP

This is a pillow that I made after I learned how to foundation paper piece Prairie Stars from Lorraine Olsen's book "Little Lone Star Quilts". Ms. Olsen must be a genius to have figured it out, because her method really works! I made the pillow from scraps left over from a quilt I am just now finishing. The fabrics are all from Faye Burgos' American Valor collection.

The Pillow is made really special because of the words "And crown thy good with brotherhood, From sea to shining sea". The words are especially appropriate because the pillow is for a young man soon to be a US Marine.
I bet a lot of you here can guess who embroidered the words for me, especially because she did them so perfectly. Yup! Thanks Dawn! (sewnsewer2)

The pictures show the pillow cover without the pillow form inside, since flat was easier to photograph. The photo with the Flags & Thank yous is the back, with the slip-in flap.

How patriotic is that!! Way cute. Love that star in the middle and your embroidered saying.

I agree, I have the book and love the method!! I am currently quilting it in fact and hope to show it soon.
May your stitches always be straight, your seams always lie flat, and your grain never be biased against you.

4th deployment!!! Sally, that boggles my mind. My nephew has been there for one tour of duty and is supposed to be going back again this summer. Listening to him just lightly talk about it sure makes me realize how thankful we should be for our men & women in the service! We wish your son a safe return and a rewarding time while there. May God Bless him!

Thank you for all the nice comments everybody!
I just want to mention that this isn't a quilt. Appearances seem to have led some of you to think it is... LOL!
It is a 14" pillow cover... that's a very mini lone star in the center, not a full size one.

DogHouseMom - I hope you are watching this thread, because I would love it if you would let me know when you post pictures of your Little Lone Star - can't wait to see it!

That is the most awesome thing ever! I used to make those stars "back in the day". Y'know, old school style. I need to look at the book you mentioned.

Thank you for making this for this fine young man. I know he'll FLIP over it!

Thanks for sharing this little gem with us!
