I have always loved the Mariners Compass and wanted to make one badly.
I found the "pie" piece on CompuQuilt and just printed it off. It didn't have any directions to it, so I just started sewing. I did have a few mistakes where I put the colors on the wrong side. (instead of the blue on the right and yellow on left, it was reversed). But, that's ok, gotta learn, right?
I really do need to get back into that room and straighten it up before hubby comes home. I know, I know....I keep saying that, but I'm having too much fun perusing the board!!

tl, If I have a 'busy' paper piece, I mark the pattern 'B' for blue (where blue would go)and number at the same time..that way when the phone rings, dogs want out and you lose your concentration of what you are doing...when you go back to it, you can pick it right up and keep it all straight. I had a wise person tell me that once when I was working on a flag...she said by the time you get to the bottom you may realize you had the stripes wrong:)). So, I mark'em...:))Just a little tidbit for all...Skeat

Nice job on your piecing. As for getting it to lie flatter try pressing so the seams all go the same direction, kinda in a swirl. Hope this helps. And good luck finding someone to pickup all the little paper pieces!!!

You go girl!!! Great job! I've tried it and I can do the individual blocks just great (and it is a blast to do), but then when I try to join the blocks up, I can't get the middles to match up to my standards. Maybe I'm too picky, but I can't get this to work for me yet :(

Yours look great!! Glad you are having fun!
