A beautiful quilt! And you are a beautiful person to do this for a friend.

I'm looking to do something similar and have not worked with Flannel for several years. Is there anything special you had to watch out for when creating your quilt?

Was the ribbon already attached on the flannel nightgown when you cut the square or did you add it in to add contrast?

the ribbons where part of the front yoke so I worked the squares into them so it would add more interest to the block. if you notice on the block with the blue it has the (dang I forgot what it's called) the folds where it was part of that gowns yoke. I think it's called pin tucks. Also I have several pockets off the gowns that I will sew into little purse type things so she can hang them in her closets with cedar or some other type of clothes freshener. There is a lot that can be done with those gowns but she doesn't have any girls or granddaughter so for now I've just saved all the pretty stuff in case she wants to use them on other things for herself.

Thanks everyone you are all so kind.

I was really worried about working with the flannel as it's a bit harder to work with but I'm glad I stuck with it because using the "Quilt as You Go" method it actually wasn't that hard, I really think it made it much easier to handle.

What a great present that will be. I'll bet it has been hard to sneak and keep quiet about it.
