Thanks for all the nice comments. The border is needle turned applique. I debating on whether or not to put it on because of all the extra work it would be. I had the 4 corner flowers appliqued on first and it looked nice with just those but they felt lost without the connecting scallops. I appliqued the aqua large print then the the dark red print. Then the olive green circles. Last was the redwork edging to make the aqua stand out a bit. Here's a closeup of the corner

Aren't you glad you did the extra for the border? It is really really pretty!

Darci Ashton was teaching an applique class at my lqs and I wanted to go so bad! But it was on a Friday and way too busy for me to take off. Maybe next time......

OH WOW, Jenell, I love her stuff, as you know ;)
That would have been a fun class. Im much better at red work since taking the Gwen Marston class. It would be nice to get a hand quilting class in sometime. I need LOTS of practice on that... and on figuring out what kind of quilting to do to a top.
Yes, Im glad I did the extra work. I went by the quilt store to pick up some fabric for the binding and saw the stack of challenge quilts that were turned in today... the competition is STIFF!! Lots of great quilters in this. Well, back to the machine... got to get it done TODAY.
