what till you get the software - you're able to zoom in on the original quilt and you can see alot of detail that i never noticed before.

Due to circumstances beyond my control, I no longer have my Dear Jane book. So, I have to replace it. I have been to the EQ site and see that they not only have the book but also have the cd.
My question is, If you have the cd, do you need the book? I want the cd but hate to have to buy both.

i own the software and hands down for me its the better purchase.

i checked out the book from my library and felt the books doesn't really help you to put together a DJ quilt.

the software actually has most of the info from the book - it lacks the day journal text from brenda (which i could care less).

the software allows you to color each block to your design, has a wizard to help you design a quilt, offer pre-design quilts that you can just make.

not to mention that you don't have to draft all the block patterns - which even the best drafting person would spend about 55 hours drafting all those blocks.

so if you want to make an entire quilt - go for the software.

you can buy it at joanns online for $39 plus tax and the shipping is free.

also the software allows you to design placemats all the way up to a king size jane.

excellent! start figuring out your design (or you can always just make the own i'm doing) and collect your fabrics.

From what I hear, the software is way more useful than the book. KLue has both - she'll be able to offer her opinion I'm sure.

I was just thinking of the Jane quilt you posted not that long ago. The only way I could make this quilt would be working with colorful, modern fabrics.
I am definitely in for doing this quilt with the group. How do you calculate yardage in making a quilt similiar to the one you posted though (I would like to start agonizing over fabric)?

if you're talking about the bright jane that was for the guild raffle - that was made with moda marbles. just the brights would be about 2 - 2.5 yards of each color.

then the background fabric for everything (blocks, triangles, corners, sashing, borders) would be around 14 yards.
