Alexa is 12 and she has made pillows before but she has been wanting to make a quilt for awhile now but we rarely have enough time together. However I had her last Saturday along with her brothers Tristan (12) and Sammy(3). Of course Sammy wanted to be with us in the sewing room so kept him busy playing with some scraps and rearranging one of my sewing baskets.

Alexa picked out the scraps she wanted to use and decided on 10" squares. She arranged them on the design wall and then sewing them all together. Next time we get together, hopefully next month, we'll sandwich it. She wants loftier batting than my warm and white so I'm going to buy a lofty poly and she's going to tie it with Pearle cotton.

I think she's off to a good start and it was so fun sheing how excited she got as she completed each row. Now Tristan wants to make one too and Sammy already thinks he's smart enough to run my sewing machine! Maybe I won't end up being the only one in the family who sews and quilts.

She did a great job, and she looks so proud! I love to sew with my grand daughters whenever we get the chance, because your makeing more than a quilt your making memories.

That is so awesome! Great memory you both have there! Sewing is such a good skill for people to have and it's awesome you are passing it down. Her quilt is wonderful!
