I saw a pattern for a small size crazy quilt in a magazine (Quick and Easy Quilting, June 2000) and thought it was the perfect way to wet my feet with crazy quilting. It took me a while finding the collection of fancy whites I used (a couple of board members sent me some--thanks Dotty and Rae-- and then I purchased some on Etsy). It was a big difference for me from using cottons and regular piecing but tons of fun, I enjoyed the experience and got to use many of my machine decorative stitches and I used metallic thread for the first time with absolutely no problems. Like I said, it was a most enjoyable experience in every aspect, I can see myself going crazy again and again

The quilt measures about 20 by 30, and I layered it and quilted as I was decorating, so I was done before I knew it. When my husband saw the background I was working on, he commented that it looks like a bunch of wedding dresses cut out into pieces and then put together :P When I started appliqueing the flowers, he said I should call this quilts 'Wedding Flowers," and so it is.

    Thanks all for looking.

Beautiful! I love the fabrics, the decorations, and the design. I had never thought of doing a crazy quilt this way, but I love it.

So beautiful! I would love to do something like that. I save little scraps of lace, binding, beads, etc. My grandaughter and I played with them today...Now if I would just sit down and make something with them...

I so love crazy quilts. That is what I started with because I did not have a clue how to make seams match. I have done 10 or more now and there is such freedom and thecreative possibilities are endless. I love yours and DH name for it is perfect. My seamstress friend gave me a box of scraps from alterations on wedding, prom and bridemaids' dresses. What a treasure. Have fun Will post a pic of the one I have in progress now sometime soon.

I agree. The freedom in crazy quilting is wonderful. I need to find an alterations place that would be willing to sell me their scraps to build a crazy quilt stash now....
Would love to see your quilts, I am going to go look and see if I can find photos you posted.
