I use a Sweet 16 midarm (sit-down machine). With the row by row construction, any domestic machine that can be set for fmq, could be used. The rows would be easy to maneuver in comparison to a full size quilt.

Update-the instructor for the class I was doing these rows for, Jeanne Harrison, passed away this morning from her cancer. The world has lost a wonderful lady and fantastic quilting instructor. I am so glad to have "known" her through the online class.
