Congratulations. Welcome from Northern California. You have made a super quilt and the quilting is kool. Please thank your grandfather for his service. BrendaK

You are off to a great start. I would say you "machine quilted" most of it. I've also seen pockets like that on each side for two hands to snuggle.

Beautiful quilt. Love the Marines. My two late Brothers were Marines and now a Grandson is a Marine.

Nothing wrong with handed down Brother machines or any other type as long as they sew. Your quilt is very nice, now when you say you did the quilting with the standard presser foot does it mean you don't have a walking foot? The walking foot helps to move your layers evenly so you don't get puckers. The great thing about the Brother machines is that you can actually get some of the feet pretty inexpensively. Good luck on your venture.

Thanks everybody! I saw so many things wrong with it, I'm so encouraged by your support

Thank you, I wasn't sure of the terminology!

I agree! I loved the price my hand-me-down came at, too! I did not know that a walking foot was something different, now that I've googled it, I was using an all-purpose foot and do not own a walking foot. I will have to invest, thanks for the tip!
