Great quilt ... even nicer when it has such a personal story.
Be sure to put a label on it, and include its story.
Congratulations to both of you for losing ... two people!
Here's to more success at the scales ... and more quilts too!

Congrats on the wonderful weight loss! And you found a new pastime in the process.... Great quilt, all handmade! Yes, you should get a sewing machine if you are going to continue. You can make more quilts, faster!
Can I give you a tip? Your hand quilting is great, but you will find it easier if you quilt 1/4" away from the seams, rather than right on them. With a machine it doesn't matter, but quilting by hand, it really makes a difference. You'll have so many less layers to go through.

Welcome to the quilting board and congratulations on you & your wife's weight loss & on your new, wonderful quilt. I love the quilt & am so impressed that you made it all by hand. It would be nice if you & your wife both took up quilting & you could combine your efforts. I think you would love making quilts by machine as well as by hand. Can't wait to see the next one you make! Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on your achievements; both the quilt and the weight loss. And also a big shout out to your wife. Both of you are an inspiration. Losing weight takes a lot of willpower. If you and your wife have this much drive, you can do anything!

[SIZE=3]She sure has. We started a 1500 calorie a day diet and stuck to it religiously. She started at 315 is now 220. I was 658, embarrassingly, but now I'm 521. Only a few weeks away from the 400's for the first time in 25 years. It has been a literal life saving experience.
