Hand pieced & hand quilted, over 1000 hexagons, I used Quilt Pati's plastic templates. It took 10 years to complete, but of course there were many months that went by that it didn't see the light of day.

At the time I started it I didn't care for the 30's & 40's prints that are traditional for GFG, so decided that I would use brighter colors. I grew to love the 30/40's prints & came to wish that I had used them instead. Doubt I will ever make another...

What a great story behind that quilt and I think it is a wonderful family heritage piece to pass on from generation to generation. Make sure that the family knows the story behind that quilt. Congrats on finishing it, it is lovely....

Would love to see what you have done. I love red & white quilts. (Along with every other color)

What an amazing story -- I really admire your perseverance. All those pieces!! You did a lovely job.

I can understand wishing you chose more traditional colors, but I doubt if they would look any better.

    Ah, all hand done .....

It is well worth the time and patience and effort .... and will surely be a family treasure .....

It is a shame that non-quilters can't appreciate the love and care that goes into something like this.

Congratulations ... job well done
