Any quilt edge will stretch some. If you measure from the center of the quilt top you will not include any stretching of edges. Then cut the border the measurement gotten from the inside. You then make the edge fit the border by easing , not the border fit the quilt edge. It would be easy to not pay attention to measurement on each edge being the same especially if you are not cutting the border but sewing the border on to the edge and then cutting off any remaing border.
