    Thank you so much everyone!

When I was sewing this way 20 yrs ago I cut out 3/4" squares and hand sewed them together. 1/8" works very well and I have always ironed my seams open so they are not bulky. Holding the 3/4" square is no harder than holding a dime in your fingers. I really liked that there are only 3 stitches to sew two squares together. It goes really fast since it is so small. I have always tacked my squares on each end so they couldn't move while I was sewing them.

    Really nice work, Rhonda!

Can you take your photos and document how you did it in a tutorial? This blog is a really good start.

I've always been amazed by folks in the WWII depression working with one inch squares to make these big gorgeous quilts. This work you have done goes into that category.

These micro minis are small enough to be collectible.

Here are a few bits and pieces I have left from when I used to do these by hand.
The blocks in these first two are 1/8" finished. I used a 3/4" square and sewed by hand. Each set of two squares is sewn together with 3 stitches.
The pink and black is 2" by 3 1/2" long
The black and burgandy is 2" by 2 1/2" long
these are left overs from some bilfolds I was working on at the time.
I made a quilt for the front of the billfold and the unfinished top was 5" with borders. Then I made a 3" top for a pocket on the back side.

The bear's paw is 3" square. The claws are 5/8" finished. I have made this block as small as 1 1/2".

Sorry the purses were well used and have been retired now.
Oh my goodness! I was just cutting 1.5 inch blocks this afternoon and thought they were tiny!
Did you use silk thread or a spider web to join them? ;)
