Well Woman has tried doing sewing jobs for others. It just takes the fun out of it for her. She does a lot of wall hangings so they get done faster then a full size. In fact I don't think she's ever made a quilt that would go on a bed before. She has made lap quilts, wall hangings and lots of dolly quilts for me and my sisters growing up. All our Halloween costumes and a bunch of clothes too. I know she started young. She made the Easter outfits for her family one year. So that is 3 suits for her brothers, her dress and acessories and I think her mom's dress too. I may be fibbing a bit. I'll have to double check that one out. I'm pretty sure though. She does schnerinette ( german paper cutting), stenciling, and pretty much anything in the sewing category. Except for tatting. She can't grasp it. But don't tell her I told you. It's a sore subject....

Jan, these are all common English ways of speaking. Picked them up when I lived there.

How about, "Get up the apples and pears", its cockney rhymning slang for "get up the stairs".

Your mom is a very talented woman. Thank you so much for taking the time to take pictures of some of her quilts and then sharing them with us. Tell your mom that we think her daughter is a great quilter and a great woman too!!

All of your quilts are spellbinding. I am really trying to make tainned glass quilts. They fascinate me.

On the schoolhouse quilt, your mom wanted to know how to get rid of mildew stains. Go to:

Your mother does fabulous work!! Love the wool applique the most!! :D :D
