I hate to keep harping on this, but we have to remember that sometimes crafts and children don't mix.
Here in Canada those types of quilts would never be mass produced as they would never pass Health Canada safety guidelines and I am sure you have the same type of safety net in the US.

Someone on the internet has spread a story that babies will choke to death on the raveling rag quilts........I got an e-mail ,and also read it here in messages......After they are washed and shook a couple times, nothing much comes off. I have never heard a true story from anyone about a baby chocking and yes the US govt has regulations on everthing sold to the public. I have made them for church, no chocking babies yet.

How absolutely adorable. I love your baby quilt. It's wonderful. I've always enjoyed the rag quilts and I can see your flannel made up beautifully and I'm pretty sure mom and new baby are going to love it. Good job. Thanks for sharing.
