Oh don't you love the quilt police! I had the same type of comment from a quilt instructor on a quilt I made when I just started quilting.

Your quilt is gorgeous! I am so glad you completed it.

A teacher should always encourage and motivate students with positive comments. I'm sorry for what happened to you and think it prevented you for enjoying the learning and quilting process for a long time. Glad you're back at it now and your quilt is beautiful!

I am definitely a newbie (3 months into quilting) and one of the best things that I learned from my first instructor is that in quilting there really are NO rules, especially when it comes to color - she said that often when working on a quilt and thinking that the colors won't work it often turns out beautifully - called "thinking outside the box" - we gotta be adventerous!! Glad you stuck to your guns - lesson learned!!

Am so glad you finished:) It is beautiful. Unfortunately, some people see a pattern and have to do it as close to the picture as possible. That, too, is ok. I'm glad you did your colors....they are rich, but muted and soft. If you can, show it off as much as possible. Everybody has a different idea of what "works." Yours certainly does!!
