Kwhite, How about a mini iron and small ironing pad next to your sewing machine (if you have room). I do this with my paper piecing work and it is really fast and a big help. Just be sure to have a prop or a little container of some sort to stick the head of the iron in to be safe.
I like your block!

I was going to suggest a ironing pad too. I have one I use with my clover mini iron or little travel iron when I appilque that also works for quick pressing blocks near the machine.

Your block is adorable! That little kitty sewing is perfect for a person who loves sewing. I have never tried the crumbs method. I have done the crazy patch quilting, though. This looks very simular to that. Is it?

Have you got an Ikea near you K? I got a mini folding ironing board there a while back for around 5 dollars of your money. When I'm doing stuff like this, I set it up along side my machine.

That Kitty block is really cute.

I have two denim shirts that my grandmother embroidered for me years ago that I could never part with. I decided to cut the embroidery pieces off the shirts and use a crazy block or crumb method to put them into quilt blocks. I have been thinking about this for a while, waiting until I found the right thing and then I was given a book called Cotton Crazy Quilts just last week by my dear MIL.

The book gives some ideas for the center shapes--pentagons and so forth so I think it will work. Now to get some other stuff out of the way so I can try it.

I really appreciated the tute link because it is so clear. Many thanks!!

Thanks for the ironing board tip. I'm going to check into that.

I think a small ironing pad is more useful beside the sewing machine. I saw one today at Joanns in the Fons & Porter area.
