I have to line up with the "too much contrast" side. The beautiful darker fabric is soft and vibrant and the light color looks cold and harsh. I would want to pick a softer tone from the darker fabric and go with that. Or even perhaps a light tan with some of the peach and green and copper tones in a tiny print.
