Would making the initial square and the square you cut into two triangles a bit larger, say 1/4", provide the overlap needed when the whole white square and the triangle meet to allow for the ensuing 1/4" seam -- to avoid the seam falling on the points at the colored/white joints??

I think I got it. The square and HST square each need to be 6.75" and the strips remain at 6.5". I tested it and it looks like I got the seam allowance to avoid cutting the points. I created a tutorial with lots of pictures here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...l-t235930.html

And here is the PDF. Let me know if anyone has questions.

And yes Mama you were dead on! Exactly what I did. Rhonda's method also works - I just hate trimming anything over a 45 degree angle (I am SO lazy).

I didn't try it out but I did add an extra 1/2" for adjusting because of cutting the square in half into triangles

Also you may run into the same problem I did...when you start to join the blocks to the center, will you lose your points? Especially on the last rows before you bind? That's where mine lost its points. This was a great effort though! I wonder if EQ would help here? Btw I LOVE your color combo!!!
LOL I'm a b it behind, but now I cut everything the 6 5/8 length. I may lose the points, but I haven't joined them as yet. One of my big problems was having to do one opposite due to the coloring I was going for, or they don't really fit correctly.

Thanks for that tute, I'm gonna download and take a look now!
