I like the second one and I would like to finish it just the way it is for a table topper. Can that be done? Would I have to have the book just to do that?

I would go with the blue tris also. I made one just like this one only in different colors of course however it is then a stack n whack actually, not an OBW. When the fabric produces hexes that are a bit to similar, the tris set them off nicely and they stand out better, IMO. Otherwise, it seems to look like a "printed fabric" rather than a pieced block, if you know what I mean. With other fabrics, the OBW works great.

I like them both but the blue triangles really make the blocks pop.

Beautiful fabric, made better by the contrast. I really like this.
