    Some time ago I was reading a book about the wealthier yachting crowd who made it a point of honor to wear the most expensive and lovely buttons they could find on their yachting jackets.
    Could this be one of them?

    Maybe a tin press set in the brass(?) or backing.

    Looks like it is from the turn of the century to teh 20's to me.

    Wish I had it in my button jar. Sure pretty.

    It's a button for sure-----------you can tell by the 2nd picture. Just a very nice button would be my guess.

    It rather reminds me of Lapis.. I know it can be carved into interesting shapes, but would have to see it in person. Does it feel smooth, or does it feel like pottery? also rather reminds me of jasperware.
