It's great as is! It's got a decent amount for hanging down the sides, which will help cover with today's thicker mattresses. It may shrink a bit too, so I'd leave it. Love your pattern!

Is your son going to sleep in a twin size bed forever...Maybe just move him to a bigger bed! Just a thought. Seriously I think it will fit the bed more like a bedspread. And like someone said...put it up over the pillow. It is a very nice looking quilt.

It is beautiful! He will love it just the way it is. I have two boys and believe me they grow faster than you expect. Before you know it he'll be in a bigger bed and this quilt will have special meaning to him.

I agree with everyone else don't take it apart. it is really pretty I seem to make mine on the short side. need to make them at least bigger.

I would adjust the border to the size you want now it will be easy with your border and still look nice.
I did the same thing with a single bed quilt and always regreted that I did not fix it before I quilted it.
