Not all quilts have to have borders. If the irish chain part of the quilt is the right size you can remove the borders.

Please don't take any off, I just made a quilt for my son (15 years old)and it is too big for his twin size bed. I wanted to make it smaller but he insisted that I not, so I made it just that way. He rolls up in it and LOVES it just the way it is. When he makes the bed he puts it to the floor on the one side it looks just fine. Just think later down the road he will have it for his bigger bed.

I think it is soooooo beautiful, I wouldn't remove anything. The colors are just so brilliant and beautiful. He will love it and remember who make it for him forever.

You dd a super great job!!!!!

No quilt is ever too big. Remember kids grow! My son went to 6' 5" and appreciates any extra length in quilts! College dorm beds are extra long too, so you have planned for the future!

It's beautiful! I'd hate to see you have to change it. But I understand after all the hard work you want it to be "right" for it's intended purpose. Good luck whatever you decide. (I guess a bigger bed at this point is out of the question?)

That's exactly what I was thinking. If it's way too big--make another smaller one, but don't change this beautiful piece!!!

Why do you think you did something wrong?

The mattress on a twin bed measures 39" x 80". You'll have 17.5" overhang on the sides, and 25" extra both for the bottom and the tuck/top.

    So what's the problem?

You did nothing wrong, I use QIAD patterns all the time and sometimes they are longer/wider than I desire so I leave, if possiable, a row of blocks off. Sometimes the QIAD patterns are shorter/more narrow than I desire so I have to add. Good luck
