I first saw a 3D Bow Tie Quilt over 14 years ago at a TX quilt show and decided to someday make one. This year, I made it for a little girl at church born with Downs Syndrome, as a secret project. I fondly call this my prayer quilt because it took me four months to make it and every time I sat down to work on it, something would go wrong and many times I cried over it. I used the time I worked on it to pray for Olivia and her family. Her grandmother secretly got her and her sibling's hand prints and I incorporated them into the quilt along with the words "sweet", "Olivia", , "hope", and "love." This was my first experience with free-motion quilting, while it was really hard to find my groove, I loved the freedom of it. I'm so glad you stopped by to see this quilt project. Love to hear from you!

Ah, you are a wonderful caring person. It's a beautiful quilt for a darling little girl. I'm sure she will drag it around till it's bare. Sending a special prayer for Olivia and her family. (And one of gratitude for you.)

Beautiful quilt for a beautiful little girl!! Sending prayers for good health and protection for her as Down Syndrome can cause physical problems, especially the heart. There are all levels, to the Syndrome and many are educable and can hold a job, we have a young man who works as a box boy at a local grocery and he's married. All things are possible.

The block looks similiar to the 10 minute block, but how did you do the lattice and cornerstones? Are they 3 D too? Just love it!!
