Wow! That is beautiful. I love the black sashing - it really shows off the colors. Thanks for sharing!

I love your quilt. The Cloth Shop is great but I always find it a little expensive. But it's a lovely store with great quilting supplies and fabrics.

I, too, found that the fabric was pricy there but then, hey, we were at the Olympics and I wanted to get some material in BC so that the quilt could have a 'story'.
I was a little surprised that there were so few places to shop for quilting supplies, etc. Maybe I wasn't looking in the right places.
However, one material was the catalyst for the entire project. A table runner kit had some BC native type pattern and since I love the west coast and all of its native art, this hypnotized me and well, you know how it goes, one thing led to another and you can see the result.
Interestingly enough, when I was back home, I needed to get the backing and when I went into one shop here, the shop owner and I shared our experiences with the Olympics and she pulled out exactly the same material that she bought for her own project!
She bought hers on the Island.
    What a coincidence!
Anyway, we loved the Olympic experience and since this was not our first trip to Vancouver, we were able to do so much more than just attend some events. The city did an amazing job, from the security to the bus drivers, to the volunteers, to the everyday citizens. Vancouver did itself proud and made the rest of the country look not too shabby either.
Hope you got to join in the celebration.
Here's a picture of my husband and I waiting for the torch on Vine Street in Kitsilano where we stayed with my sister in law.

I'm glad you had a great time in Vancouver for the Olympics!

You are right that there are no fabric stores in Vancouver. The Cloth Shop is the ONLY quilting store in all of Vancouver proper (which just seems crazy to me). We do have one crappy Fabricland that is way on the outskirts of town, and it has really poor selection. There is a lovely large Fabricana in Richmond with a huge quilting section, and there is also Dressew on Hastings Street downtown but that mostly specializes in garment fabric. There are a number of Indian and Sari fabric stores on Fraser and Main streets but again, not much use for quilting.

Most of the good quilting stores are in the suburbs, like Fort Langley, Surrey, and there is one great on in Abbotsford called Quilt Essentials.

This is my fav quilt store in the lower mainland.
