I don't think it's that difficult, once you get the hang of the stacking and cutting. There's a bit of organisation involved in keeping your blocks together but the sewing is straightforward - no Y seams. The toughest parts I think are choosing a good fabric and getting the layout to work (the design part if you like) but there are techniques to help you with that. The book One Block Wonders by Maxine Rosenthal is what you need. When I first started doing these I read it through cover to cover then used it as an instruction manual as I made the first couple. I found it very clear and easy to follow - lots of photos. Plus check out the Virtual Section here on the board - there's a link bottom left highlighted in blue. Some ppl have been making these in a sew along, guided by Cutebuns. :-D

Hi som, if you're sure you cut accurately, it sounds like your angles are wrong. You have to cut equilateral, 60° triangles, that way 6 of them put together will total 360°. Hang on, I'll post a pic of my ruler...
BTW this is my old triangle with the tips cut off (not ideal!) I now have a new one with the tips but the angles are the same. Anyone who is buying one, get one with tips, the tips are important when making these as they help you line everything up! :-D

Here's my triangle with my 6.5" square laying alongside it.
