I liked #6 the best. I think 1 snd 2 look pretty involved for a newbie. I have always admired the Hunters Star pattern which I don't believe is real hard but it has a wonderful conplex look to it.

What a delima! I REALLY like all of them, but I guess my favorites are (in this order) #1, #4 and #5. I can't imagine your dad's friend not loving any of them however!

I vote for #4, I love a quilt with diagonal lines that doesn't require an on point set. I like the softer cream color with the blue and green also.

I vote for #4. It is brighter in colors, the pattern stands out more!

All of the designs are definitely nice. One thing I noticed for the first time - using border fabric within the design blocks gives depth to the quilt. It sort of makes the design float on the border fabric base with some of it peeking through. I've decided I really like that! Thank you!
