This is the only picture I have of my precious Grandmother quilting. She is the one who taught me how to quilt. All her quilts were hand quilted. She made quilts for all 12 of her kids and all 52 grandkids. This picture is a treasure to me.

That picture is priceless. I don't guess anyone thought to take a picture of my grandmother quilting. I didn't live near her so she didn't teach me how to quilt but I do have one of her later quilts. It has poly batting so I'm pretty sure it was made sometime during the 1970's. My mom also has some of her older quilts from the 40's and they all have heavy cotton batting with Baptist fan quilting.

Good for you, don't think either of my Grand,others quilted. My Mom made a quilt top, didn't have room to quilt it. She helped me make a scrappy one and then I made Oldest DD a baby quilt, don't remember what happened to either one, I have made 100 quilts and comforters, mostly quilts, made alot after learning to machine quilt.
