At the moment my sewing room is a guest room. I'll share a pic in a couple of weeks after I've put it all back. Promise. Just imagine, I'll have a very neat sewing room to take a picture of since I've cleared it out and cleaned it up.

Thanks to all you brave souls who have already shared your work rooms. I'm very impressed. Lots of creative work going on!

I don't have any pictures of my room yet, I'm hoping for a digital camera for my b-day. But here's my story. When we bought this house 7 years ago, there was a room framed out in the basement. Many discussions were held concerning this room, and what it would become. I never said a word. I was used to working on my dining room table, and having to pick up when company came. Then a couple years ago, our youngest son began to talk of turning it into an audio-visual room. I decided it was time to speak up. I told my DH it would be perfect for a sewing room for me. At first, nobody took me seriously, but eventually Dan realized I was serious. So, to make a long story short, he wired the room, (he's an electrician, I have more plugs than you can imagine!), dry-walled, painted it a sunny yellow, put in a laminate floor, and 2 cabinets. For Christmas last year, our kids and their families got me a 4 foot table that holds my sewing machine. My room is my sanctuary from dealing with a job I truly despise, my 79 year old mother, who thinks quilting is a waste of time, and the world in general. I tell my husband all the time how much I love my room-and him for finishing it for me. I will post pics soon.

My mother too thinks quilting is a waste of time util a sibling or niece or nephew is ready to produce offspring and then tells me I need to make them a baby quilt. Everyones pictures inspired me to do a little straightening this weekend My cutting table has showed up again. All this time, I thought it had walked off. Turns out, it was buried under piles of fabric. Now the closet is bursting at the seams. I guess that means I simply need to sew more!

I decided to pull my fabric out of the drawers to see what I have, cuz it is hidden, well i found nothing but bright fabrics, seems this is all i have been ordering lately, hardly any solids so i caught the last day sale at JoAnns and stocked up on solids, actully piled my fabric up on the shelf so i could see it and know what i have to work with, very little it seems, as I have just started quilting. Finally started on a project I just might finish as i plan to send this one out to be long armed quilted. I have fabric with large print and had a difficult time deciding how to place it all...nothing inspirational hit me so it's big blocks with sashings, oh well the colors are pretty, very fond of blues and yellows!!! maybe i should take another picture of my sewing room cause now it is really messy!!! ha

Catherine, I know how hard it is to find a block that suits large print and is also at beginner level. I found that the Irish chain is a nice way to show off a large print and the chain pieces can set off one color in the print if they are solid or semi-solid.

I really like the Leisure Arts quilt books. They have pretty easy patterns that are really versatile. You might take a look at "Wild About Flowers" or one of their other ones for inspiration.

Post pics when you have them!
