Since the stitching will be straight lines, you would use your walking foot. I would do a diagonal line across the center one way, then do the other way to form an "X". Then stitch a row on each side of the first line, one going one way and one going the other, then do the same on either side of the second row of stitching. By working from the center and alternating the sitch direction you will minimize distortion. Please let us know if you have more questions!!

Yes, would be my choice, too! Nice colors!

I agree that a diagonal line cross hatch suits this pattern. I would probably do some closely spaced (1/4 to 1/2 inch apart) to add interest, particularly if the back is fairly plain and the quilting will show up a lot.

You can take a photograph of the entire quilt, print full page size, then use a marker to draw possible quilting grids, and decide what you like.

What foot would you use for the diagonals, walking foot or darning foot? FYI, I'm quilting on a Pfaff sewing machine.
You could actually use a couple of feet. You could draw lines and then use reg. walking foot or a SITD walking foot also. I just did this on a quilt and my blocks were small enough so that I didn't have to mark, just do the eyeball thing and it worked with the SITD quilting foot.
