Be proud of his interest, marriage will not be a problem for him in the future. In the meantime, he is concentrating, on doing create things, with his ability... Remember, Physics is all based on angles, triangles, where all the trades are derived. Myself failed Physic 1st time, then came quilting, physic was a breeze 2nd time. My hand/eye coordination, was above average. (all your production jobs).. Sewing has lots to offer!

Kiddos to him for his attention to detail and realizing that REAL MEN sew! Kudos to you for providing the opportunity and encouragement! I see a blue ribbon in his future.

    ***
*** He is a fro sure winner for the Fair with this quilt or any he makes.
    *** They are great.
    ***
*** I taught both my kids to do the basics of sewing & cooking, but
*** they were not interested in more or deeper sewing.
    ***
*** Every one needs the basics to survive or have lots of $$$ for alterations.

Boys do go at it differently. My son made a small wallhanging for his 2nd grade teacher, and when he was in 6th grade he wanted to make a Colonial Flag quilt for his bed, so he designed it and cut it and quilted it himself. He came at it more like a design project than a sewing project.

Check your local ads or craig's list, you may find an older machine that is at a reasonable price for him. Tell him to keep up the good work. My son is also a quilter and does amazing work.

I love that the boy is so into the quilting. I am going to show this posting to my GD, hoping that she will take any kind of interest in a sewing machine. And if she does, I hope you don't live in TN, because anything she makes will be entered in the fair here (and of course I would want her to win).

Ricky Tims may be about ready to retire when your son comes into his own. Show him some of RT's work. He is amazing; and a wonderful entertainer to boot.

Glad he does have his own machine. In his own time he will use his machine and let you have yours back. Then watch out. When he figures out what all the buttons can do he will fly. Like everyone else I wish him luck at the fair. No matter how he does he is still a winner in my book. Will be looking forward to seeing the finished project. Give him a hug for me and I guess he knows how proud we all are of him. Is his grandmother still alive to share the pride?Where ever she is I am sure that she is smiling. You both did a wonderful job of helping him. Thanks for sharing your son with us for a little while. BrendaK
