This is a jelly roll and yardage (Moda Mill House) I bought in a sale, but wasn't too keen on it once pieced - so I thought I would use it as a "practice" for some free motion. I have been working on freestyle free motion on my Janome, as I prefer not to have mark patterns out.
Hence the name - bit of a quilting "Frenzy", but I am very pleased with the result. I recently bought a SewSlip silicon mat and it has made fmq movement lots easier. The quilt is 60 ins square. I used Hobbs 80/20 because of the close quilting and it is nice and soft still. Thanks for looking. quilting on the back close up whole |
This is a practice piece!? You don't look like you need practice. It looks GREAT!!! :-)

WOW!!!! If you are just learning how to FMQ!! You are an amazingly fast learner!!!! Great job!

Beautiful. Love the quilting.

Very nice. Great job on the quilting, too.

I love 60" square quilts. And yours is a beauty!! I use them this way on my Queen sized bed and change them frequently according to the season. Here's a fall 60" quilt used as a topper

Beautiful :!:

If I could only do as well for 'real' as you do at 'practice' ! ! !
|
I love it - everything about it.

beautiful quilt and quilting!

Very nice job!

Beautiful !!! Hard to believe you are just a beginner with fm......Michele

Thanks all. You can see a titchy bit of a blue and white quilt peeking underneath on the 2 of the pics - its a king size, all different sized stars, which I want to heavily fmq - so this one was sort of workout I suppose... it will be harder though as its so big.
This one is the "heaviest" quilting I've done so far. Mamagus - I agree, 60ins sq is a very versatile size isn't it - can be used on a bed like you said, or a lap quilt. I have one all in lavender shades which looks great on top of white. |

I think your "practice" looks perfect, Katrine! Front and back are lovely. I really like the Moda fabrics and the polka dot border!
|
You did an awesome job. I would be pleased as well if I could FMQ that nicely with no marking!
|
Great idea, but my big dogs (Great Dane & Rottie) spend most of their time on my bed. So I use fleece blankets I make, and wash them a couple times a week.
|
I love the pattern and your FMQ...You did an AWESOME job on both!!

Beautiful!

I don't think you need any more practice. I like the quilt, the colors and the machine quilting.
|
Absolutely STUNNING!!!

Wow, Katrine, your quilting is spectacular! I love that fabric line, too, I made a quilt for my mother-in-law out of it. Great work, you've made a beautiful quilt.
