You ladies will have a wonderful time. I have only participated in the last group one that was organized and was one of the unfortunate ones that never got their top back. These will be lovely I know.
Hey Linda- good to hear you are getting settled. I will put mine in the mail to you tomorrow - give you something to look forward to sewing I hope. In the mean time - do try to rest a bit. We don't want you falling out on us.
Moving is a lot more work than most people realize. |
Oh Lisa - I am so sorry to hear that you a negative experience with your swap. I believe that is why there are no longer board organized Round Robins.
All of us in this group have participated in other swaps together on the board and decided that we wanted to do a RR with each other. We just wanted to show other quilter our "pretties" as we go on this adventure together. |
I think I am just fine Paula. I was super tired, the biggest part is the dialysis part. It sort of makes me pooped out a bit for a few hours but then I am regular again! I won't bail on you guys silly goose. I am in it for the duration. Just you wait and see! It is a beautifully cool morning. the fans are running to keep the apartment nice and cool, windows and doors too. a slight breeze. I am ready to tackle my day. I wish the same for all of you, a beautiful morning and a nice day. Oodles of quilting too. Its nice to be unpacked. I will be so happy hanging up my pictures and playing with fabric again. boy do I miss that.
Glad to hear you are settling in Linda. Not worried about you bailing on us - I know you better than that - just concerned for your health, don't want you to overdue.
Sounds like you have lovely weather for the time being. We are hot as all get out here in VA right now. Thankful for the breeze though - the humidity just sucks the life out of you if we don't have a breeze. BTW - how did you get a picture of me to use as your avatar?????:D |
You ladies are just too funny. Elisabrat, I love your avatar!! Too cute. Paula, I beg to differ with you, that could be me also. (a little around the edges, lol) You all posted some great centers. I can't wait to see them grow! I agree with you, it is hot today. Almost 100 degrees. I surely wish we'd have had a bit more of a breeze. (But, lordy, I am grateful to see the sun.):)
You ladies are a hoot, can hardly wait to see your pretties! Good health, fair weather, & happy quilting.
Kelly still have to trim your 1st border, thought those miters might be my death, but not bad. Will post a pic for you tomorrow and then I am ready to mail.
Please, be sure to include the name of the block used for your centers.
these are going to be beauties. Tinker |
Jaba and I just made something up - no specific pattern was used. Elisabrat is doing the same thing.
TheMamaHouse used "Storm at Sea" Nexxus831 used "God's Eye" Hope that helps you Tinker |
Edit - that should be TheMamaHouser - sorry about that.

Mamahauser here is your 1st round. Sent it on today to Paula for your next one. Hope this will work for you.
I have my four paws done for the corners now to decide a simple strip of tone on tone OR do I try to squeeze a couple blocks or more in between them.. already framed the center with a 2" piece so now the decisions come into ply. lots of stuff.. will have pics later today after I whip up dinner for Senior Grumpo :)
Love the frame on Kelly's center Jan - well done. I think I have a plan but will have to play a little more to be sure.
I have to sew the corners on yours and then I can post pics too. Linda - I vote for the simple strip of tone on tone with those four paw corners. It will frame the panel and give the next round a place to add some interesting blocks with out losing your corners. |

OK Jan - Here is what I added to your center. Hope you like it.
I like the design Paula, blends well with the center. It's hard to tell on my monitor for some reason today, the green looks like the lighter shade that is in the floral but the other looks really red, like a dk. tomato red. Think you probably used a little darker pink shade. I'm sure I'll love it!!
Think I goofed on Kelly's now that I look at my pic, forgot to trim those dog ears on the corners, sorry. |
The colors in the pic look awful - I promise they really so match. I will try to get a better one later.
Jan you are right that the green the lighter shade in the leaves on the black fabric and the "red" is really a raspberry. Don't worry about any dog ears on Kelly's - I will trim them up if needed. |
I'm sure they match I have no doubt about that at all, it's going to be beautiful. Didn't give you too much choice on those "ears" unless you want to send it back to me to finish "my" job:o Thanks for your extra hand with that one!! The pic on facebook looks totally different on this monitor, looks great, or maybe it's just my eyes this morning you just never know.....
Strange how different post make it look different. I posted the same pic in both places and they look different to me too.
Guess we both have those kind of eyes:D:D
Jan,
I received your package of Kelly's center today. Took care of those pesky dog ears and it is up on my design wall for inspiration (and safely) |
Perfect, glad it arrived safely. Again sorry I forgot those but thanks for taking care of it for me.

ok here it is my center block what it is not showing is the last tiny corner is a rust red on the outside four corners.. so country patriotic vs bright white blue and red patriotic? the pattern is a bit of a quilt called Asian star that I had downloaded. obviously not Asian now!
very pretty ladies.
Brat - that is a great center. It will be fun to see how it evolves as each of us add to it.

Now that the fun has begun - here are all the centers side-by-side. What a lovely and diverse group!
Top Row: Elisabrat, Nexxus831, Lestrong Second Row: TheMamaHouser, Jaba, Dragonfly Nana |
Now that brings it all up front and personal, love all the pics side by side. Each one of ours is so different, this will be interesting.
These centers are sooo interesting. When do you complete the whole project(s)? I will be watching, I'm so interested in what each of you will add.
We are ahead of schedule right now so it is hard to tell when we will be complete - possibly before Christmas.
Normally a round robin can take up to a year to complete. |
Such a fun idea! So you guys will received a completed top that was finished in part by 5 different people (including your own center of course)? I will have fun watching this thread to see the additions!
Ladies, very nice centers. The journey has begun. It will be exciting to see them grow. Have fun. :)
These are all so beautiful!! Can't wait to see the progress you all make! Very inspiring!
I'm subscribing to this thread to see how this unfolds.. the centers are BEAUTIFUL and I can only imagine the rest of the work will be too!
thank you for your vote of confidence all those who are just watching. Its heartwarming to see a following of our little venture. I loved reading all about the last one in the picture section here amazing the transformations that became of little centers!
I am working on my first center tomorrow for Dragonfly. I am going to go blue and green for the next round in batiks and with luck it might even work. the grey outer edge is also dark blue so it blends well together. (I hope!) |
Ooooh - I like the way you think. Can't wait to see what you create.
Dragonfly I received your priority envelope today. Now I have two! I am half way done with yours. I fixed the little side issue and have the length put in.. now to come up with something a tad more exciting on the bottom and top. I lost it when I couldnt mathematically do 1/8th inch solutions. then it all went emotionally down for me so I am sorry its not running out the door. I have two borders I made to go on.. a saw tooth and a braid neither worked and by the time I realized why they didnt fit right it was too late. I had cut them to heck .. so new day new idea. now its all the correct size. phew! bet it will look good though lol..
Brat - I am sure whatever you come up with will be stunning. I must admit I am a little stuck on Kelly's. Measurements are weird at 29 1/2 inches square.
Kelly - would you be opposed to a fabric that is white with a tiny red leaf on it? |
Dragonfly Nana, I was too, so just put the border on it thinking the next person could "chop" a little if they needed to for the design they wanted to do. I wasn't able to divide by 3 so just added my "quota" to it. Sorry if that messed you up, thought I was doing a favor on Kelly's. So much easier if it is divisible by 3's. As far as I am concerned, feel free to cut some of my border off. Think I measured mine to go by increments of three's for that reason, or I hope so. Kelly , just wondering if you have Melinda's yet?
Jan, No I haven't mailed yet but Kelly is ok with that she knows with the death of my uncle things have been insane for me. I will get it out in the next day or two. Hopefully the healing will begin.
I was just curious Melinda, trying to pre-plan a little. Hadn't heard about your uncle, so sorry for the loss of your family member. Healing will begin, it just takes time.
