Jaba, thank you. Yeah he had been struggling with ALS for the past three years. We all knew it was coming eventually we were all just hoping for a little more time. It is such a HORRIBLE disease. When I am in a better mental state I want to get involved with our local ALS chapter. The week I was at my parents house is when it happened. Fortunately I got to see him on Tuesday when I got there and then on Friday late night my cousin called me and told us. We rushed in to town to be there for my aunt (my mothers sister) and cousins. It has hit me harder than I anticipated. Like to the point sometimes it is hard to get out of bed and want to wake up. My kids, hubby and family have been my savings grace. Thanks for your wonderful words.

I can't wait to see it all, what beautiful centres everyone.

Cogito 07-12-2013 11:34 AM

Well this has been a fun thread to stumble upon....feel like I know all you ladies already cause we have interacted on several different threads. I have subscribed to this thread and will enjoy watching the creations. It is helping my creative juices for the RR I am in with y'all staring in October. Every center here is just simply fabulous! 'Nuff said! :)

This is going to be a fabulous RR. All the centers are top notch and watching them evolve is going to be great. I have subscribed to this thread so I can watch them grow. Have fun girls and keep us all entertained.
peace

Cogito 07-13-2013 04:49 AM

Brat, perfect addition to Dragonfly's top, really enhances it!
Dragonfly I didn't notice until now the background you chose....that is really cool!...it's all the little insects in the marsh and the dragonflies are flitting about happily catching them! :D Hope that's not a disturbing visual....I think it's awesome.

chezza_79 07-13-2013 06:10 AM

wow the centers are just amazing!! I look forward to seeing how these quilts grow and evolve!

CRO 07-13-2013 06:59 AM

I just saw this and can't wait to see how all the centers turn out. They are all so beautiful, so are all the additions.
Brat I really love what you have done with the dragonflies.

breathtaking. what wonderful combinations of colors, shapes, and prints.

WeeFi 07-13-2013 01:11 PM

Awesome start ladies. I'll be watching with interest, have fun!

Dragonfly Nana 07-13-2013 05:53 PM

Brat - I love it! The thin goldish yellow gives it a rich touch and the blue and green two are perfect additions to keep the "nature" feel.
Cognito - I had not thought of by background quite that way but I like the your description.

Tracy Delegal 07-13-2013 06:38 PM

These are all nice! Jaba, I like that you posted yours as your avatar. Can the others do that? It might help to recognize you all.

passionpiecer 07-13-2013 06:41 PM

Oh, what fun. I am looking forward to keeping up with you guys. Thanks for including us.

Yes they can if they want to change it, it's up to them.

daisey 07-13-2013 07:55 PM

way to guy everyone, round robins are great!

Elisabrat 07-14-2013 04:19 AM

I am going to ponder Jaba's center today. I have the raspberry/green edged quilt now to work with for those not playing. I am thinking of extending that green line out to finish at a point but then I end up with just doing a strip around the quilt in the rest of the areas. What say you to this everyone please feel free to kibitz. I need to figure how to do that too btw. its not a magic act for me its tough work doing angles and math. 45 degree angle cut surely. my row is 6.5 inches adding on so its a bit wider. my other thought was to turn that green line in the opposite direction and have it turn into a square on each side... instead of the center green square that I first thought.. oh ideas ideas...

jaba 07-14-2013 05:29 AM

I'm sure it will be just fine . You can sew here, then I can watch.

Judith1005 07-14-2013 06:38 AM

Sorry Elisabrat, I'm not part of the group and am totally lost on what you will be doing. But it sure sounds interesting. I will be watching to see which direction you go in.

Pretty first rounds ladies. You all started with some pretty and diverse centers. Should be an exciting journey!

ScrapQuilter 07-14-2013 11:02 AM

Sounds like you gals will be having fun and I will be watching each round of your journey.

Elisabrat 07-22-2013 03:26 AM

well nix the idea of finishing out the green on Jabas to make a point. the point needs more than 6.5 inches to do that. now I am open to ideas ladies on what next.. Kelly its not so simple as just forget the last row and do as you want. this is someones quilt and I can't do that. I know stressing for the sake of stressing but its more than that. You are all my friends here and I want it to look perfect lol. yeah that's me, perfectionist (NOT).. lol
anyone having more luck with the one they are working on now? anyone working on any of them or did the fire burn out already? wouldn't that be quick if that happened. I love the challenge and think this could be a terrific day for sewing. wish me luck!

Nexxus831 07-22-2013 02:22 PM

Brat, can you post a pic of the top please? That will help me visualize it better. thanks

Brat - you could try something like in the pic below. I know the background color is wrong but you get where I am going.
Melinda - very center portion of the pic is Jan's center as I sent it to Linda.

Nexxus831 07-22-2013 03:00 PM

ohhhh Paula I couldn't remember what border you put on thanks for the reminder. I also love the idea of the border for Brat. It is awesome.

Here is another idea (which I like better) The size and color is off due to the layering of different pictures - but I think you will get it.
I like how these HSTs echo more of Jan's center

Elisabrat 07-23-2013 01:33 AM

Your bottom idea is more like what I was thinking but using less of the saw teeth (?) and making them larger as its a 6.5 round. I love the ribbon if I broke up the bottom with a 1" fabric strip. its so busy to me otherwise am I the only one who thinks that? the middle is a centerpiece of points. coming so close to that with more points could be overkill. but I am working on it. Thanks for the ideas. its nice to see it in actual pictures other than my horrific doodles. it gives me a better grasp on what it might look like. Your good Paula. Very good :)

Dragonfly Nana 07-23-2013 03:59 PM

YW Linda. I am visual too and, like you did, I saw the need for a clean strip before adding the ribbon - hence the HST one. I imagined it with the larger HSTs to balance it out just like you too.
What is it they say about great minds thinking alike? Could that be us? :D

Peggy Jeanne 07-23-2013 05:23 PM

Very pretty!

Elisabrat 07-31-2013 03:12 AM

Dear Paula, fellow great mind thinker how is your center coming along? have you another your working on or are you in the waiting mode? I have to do mine been sorta dreading it. This is JANS! she has been so good to me how can I do less than .. great for her yet me? great? oh bother. this is a challenge. She was kind enough to share a bit of her black/pink fabric with me she had three strips she could part with and I think incorporating a bit more of the black with floral in at this round is a nice foil to all the pink that otherwise could appear. then it will be ready for more pink in the next run. now armed with this great fabric I should make MAGNIFICENT if I don't please be sure to not point it out ok? hope everyone is stitching away! cant wait for more photos...

frenchfryqueen 07-31-2013 04:17 AM

Silly Brat-- There's no way to convince us you're going to come up with anything less than gorgeous. We've all seen your work!

debcavan 07-31-2013 04:46 AM

Both are so cool. It will be fun to follow.

Yeah - What she said!

blondeslave 07-31-2013 11:27 AM

All of the centers are fabulous!

Elisabrat 07-31-2013 06:00 PM

frenchfry and dragonfly let me say again how much I love you. thankfully you accept paypal for compliments :)

I added 1/2 inch of the black floral to the round Dragonfly did now i can break it up and add what might work best. so far a nine patch no, a four patch on diagonal maybe and a spool my favorite but laying on its size two fabrics only so center line is solid is appealing to me plus it breaks up tons of angles which I am all for. lots of angles in that center so its time for a break up and since I suck at applique well its creative me going to battle with the rest of the quilters :) wish me luck I am on a roll its the only thing on the cutting block!

jaba 07-31-2013 07:05 PM

I think it sounds fabulous! Go with it Brat..............
I'm in a waiting mode, I need a center to work on.....

Dragonfly Nana 08-01-2013 02:20 PM

Hi All - I am back from a week at mom's and having sewing withdrawal! When I get done here I will be heading to my sewing room to finish up my round for Kelly's center

jaba 08-01-2013 02:57 PM

Worked on brat's today for the "Hummingbird Group" Round Robin and it's done, but now I'm pondering taking the corners off and doing something else. Will stare and glare at it for a bit, maybe have brat take a look and see what she thinks too, that's probably the smartest thing to do.

Micki922 08-01-2013 03:31 PM

They are all quite wonderful. I also can't wait to see them progress!

Elisabrat 08-04-2013 07:26 PM

well I finished Jaba's round. It was a trying event for me lol. Trying to do math, not able to do math.. that kind of trying :) I am trying to post pictures and so far its not excited about my doing such a thing so maybe later tonight. I am ready and able to take on the next one which Kelly will deliver to me on the 15th! two grand things happening in one day a chance to meet another board member and a center block to work with!! ok three great things jaba will be joining us also. Now that is a lucky day :)

Elisabrat 08-04-2013 07:40 PM

I put my picture in an album named 2012 2013 round robin.. there is the pic of the finished round for Jan and also my center for the hummingbird swap :)
