This is such an awesome gift from your mother, including the history behind it...I received a doll quilt from my aunt that my great, great grandmother made for her when she was real little. I will have to take a picture of it and post real soon for everyone to see. :D

What a beautiful gift and treasure you have received.

I just acquired quilting squares from the 1930's and 40's from my Grandmother Dyer on my Mother's side. My Mother just passed away in April 2010. I am working on putting the squares together with sashing and borders. I am having alot of fun trying to figure out what colors to use. My Mom told me some were from maternity tops that she wore when she was pregnant with me. I feel like my Grandmother & Mother are back with me in spirit again.

Enjoy your quilt.

I have one of these type vintage quilts as well. I can remember my tiny grandmother with her little hands, fingers bent, in her rocking chair, piecing. No stitch is straight, but I love the quilt, love the fabric, colors, and the "threads of quilting" that has followed her to me. I hope she would be proud of me.

Oh what a beautiful treasure. and what a wonderful gift, that I am sure you will treasure for the rest of your life. I know how you felt, as I have never had a quilt before, and then I got a package in the mail, and JenniePenny sent me her very first quilt she made for my birthday gift. After I got over the shock and started crying while reading the card. I have never expereanced a feeling like that before, and I can't even begain to explain it, but it is wonderful. God bless.
