Unbelievable - LOVE IT - beautiful - My nephew wants me to make him a quilt and his favorite color is blue - not sure what I will do yet but this is a thought.

Your quilt is GORGEOUS!!!!! When I saw all the blues in your before, I wasn't sure how it would turn out. It's stunning! :-)

Blue Bird of happiness.......so beautiful!

Very Pretty!!!

nannya54 04-23-2011 04:33 AM

Gee that's pretty. It's so easy to get blues that clash but you did a great job! Nice, nice quilt!

LAB55 04-23-2011 05:12 AM

Beautiful !! :-)
Great job !! :-)

This is one stunning quilt top!

I would add sashing to the left and bottom sides and finish with one wide dark border and dark binding. The quilt has a wonderful diagonal flow and a dark border wouldn't bring that to an abrupt halt. Sort of like the quilt top is the galaxy and it just drifts off into space. (My love of nature and sci-fi just pop up every now and then :D )

Best of all, audition lots of possibilities for borders, take pictures and most likely, one will present itself as THE one.

Striking, love the layout

I'm a bit of a sci-fi person myself and just loved your idea. My LQS is waiting on a shipment of batiks so I'm waiting to see what comes in, otherwise, the next places to get fabric are an hour or more away, but I'll be making a trip in a couple weeks. but I have another project in the works too...will post that one soon.

WOW! I like that! I have been promising myself a two colored quilt for a while. I really like your "Blues".

No ideas, but I'm very impressed with your quilt, it's beautiful.

Motorcyclemad 04-26-2011 05:11 AM

This is beautiful! For borders, I would place a small strip of white on white (the same width of your sashing or 1-1 1/2" larger), and 1 or 2 strips of blue (a light and a dark). But whatever you choose, the finished product will be gorgeous. You have done this color justice!

SewCraftyGirl 04-27-2011 05:18 AM

fabric lover 04-27-2011 10:50 AM

Don't have any suggestions, but the quilt and lay=out of the color tones is gorgeous

donnaluigi 04-28-2011 03:53 PM

I love the blues

katiebear1 04-28-2011 04:15 PM

As far as boaders I would do a light blue an the 2 light sides and as dark blue in th 2 dark sides

pennyswings1 05-01-2011 03:35 PM

OK I have still been following this thread to see what you decide for the border. If it helps, and I hope my opinion does not hurt your feelings, I would not like your piano key idea for the border. There is just so much movement in this quilt that I think that type of border would stop all the movement.
I personally agree with the dark border and binding, this would allow the quilt top to continue to flow, kind of like the stars in the sky comment.
Whatever you decide please post your finished quilt I look forward to seeing it.

MDMPanther 05-01-2011 04:35 PM

I ordered a few more blues , one or two of which I think will work great as borders....They should be in by the end of the week....I'm not real crazy about the piano keys idea myself the more I think about it. I'll update as soon as I have something new to share. :)

pennyswings1 05-04-2011 01:45 PM

I can't wait to see your next update!
I was just showing this to my DH and he liked it a lot. I was saying how I would love to make this quilt it is such an easy pattern. Will have to continue to build my blues stash first.

wraez 05-04-2011 01:53 PM

wow I really like that! Love the way the blues go together.

CarolinePaj 05-04-2011 02:08 PM
